| Her Better Half |

- For the sister, from a sister with love.
Why?

Maybe she was looking in all the wrong places. After all, he was just a dunya guy, he would give her the happiness of the dunya for just a few day, weeks, months maybe and then they would never be the ‘happily ever after couple’ like our Beloved Prophet Muhammad SAW and Khadijah R.A.

For she realised that a bond made for the sake of the dunya lacked the basic crucial ingredient: the barakah of Allah. If she started a relationship which wasn’t blessed by Allah SWT, she would ruin her entire life for the man who looked so charming but whose heart was attached to the dunya.

She was concerned about her future progeny and she decided that she didn’t want to raise up her future children oblivious and ignorant of Islam. She decided that she’d look at his deen, his character and his akhlaq, for if those qualities in him were well grounded, he would turn into the greatest blessing of her life – her better half.

If someone is true to his deen and truthful to Allah, it is incumbent that he shall possesses a beautiful akhlaq. You don’t need to be a nuclear scientist to have a beautiful akhlaq. Allah has most certainly showed her so. How can someone truthful to Allah be other than that? If someone has a disgraceful akhlaq and treats a woman badly in ANY way, stay clear and make du’a that Allah shall protect and guard us, for Allah would never let any harm come to those who have tawakkul on Him. May Allah completely dispel those kind of people from our lives. Be eternally thankful to Allah if He did.

A man came to al-Hasan bin Ali, seeking advice and asked about who would be the best eligible man that he should marry off his daughter to. He said: “A few men have came and asked for my daughter’s hand in marriage, who shall I choose?” Al-Hasan said: “Marry her to a man who fear Allah, because if he loves his wife – he will respect her, but if he do not like her – he would never treat her unjustly.”

With all the traffic of thoughts in her mind, she came across a verse in the Quran which lay open in her hands and the verse she saw made her cry and she made sincere du’a from her heart and decided that her better half is someone who has a pure heart and a beautiful akhlaq, who would hold her hand, help bring the Sunnah and Shariah in her life, take her out for ice-cream, help solve her problems and when he couldn’t he would just be a good listener.

Most importantly.. he would walk with her to Jannah.
The verse she read was:

“And among His Signs is this that He created for you mates from among yourselves that ye may dwell in tranquillity with them and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts); verily in that are Signs for those who reflect..” [30:21]
